Swinging M Wellness
Who Can Receive Services From Swinging M Wellness?
Myofascial services provided by Swinging M Wellness is appropriate for generally healthy individuals that have acute or chronic discomfort from sore or stiff muscles, have the "getting older" feeling, repetitive task discomfort, or difficulty with certain aspects of mobility not caused by a serious medical complication. These services are also a great way to optimize performance in the gym or during sports activities.
Are Swinging M Services Covered By Insurance?
No, Swinging M Wellness is a private-pay mobile practice that is not in network with any insurance company. We do not provide superbills for submission for insurance coverage.
What Do I Need To Wear For My Appointment?
We suggest wearing comfortable, casual clothing like activewear, loungewear, or anything that isn't significantly bulky. Denim material is not preferred; however, it can be worked with if necessary. Often, sweatshirts and coats are too thick to receive services properly, and your therapist may ask that you remove these items during your session. Depending on the modalities being received, your therapist may ask if you are comfortable removing your shirt to access your back. This is not a strict requirement. As always, please communicate with your therapist about your preferences and comfort levels during your sessions.
Do I Need A Doctor's Referral To Be Seen?
No! Occupational Therapy is a direct-access profession, and Swinging M Wellness is a private-pay exclusive practice, meaning you have the freedom to become a new client without a doctor's referral. We encourage consulting with your doctor if you have any reservations about becoming a client due to significant medical conditions. We may also recommend consulting with your doctor if your therapist has reservations about providing services safely due to confounding medical variables.
Are These Services Like A Massage?
In short, no, myofascial services are not like a massage provided by a licensed massage therapist. These are targeted techniques to address tissue imbalances, tension, or restrictions and can come with a certain degree of discomfort. Open communication with your therapist providing services is essential. Your therapist will happily alter techniques and pressure based on your tolerance and experience.
Please keep in mind that some clients experience muscle soreness after a session, which is normal and should not impact daily functioning. If this is the case, please contact us and communicate with your therapist so we can adjust your sessions accordingly.
Who Cannot Receive Services From Swinging M Wellness?
Potential clients that are not appropriate for Swinging M Wellness services are those with significant perfusion, vascular, or circulation issues. During your initial evaluation, you will be asked to provide a relevant medical history so that your therapist can appropriately develop an approach to your sessions, which may include omitting specific modalities.
Our services rely on a relatively healthy and functioning vascular and circulation system to be effective and safe, and can temporarily influence the body's overall fluid load immediately after a session. Please contact us if you have any questions about your specific condition(s) and are interested in becoming a new client.
